Overview

Travellers ready for India's essential contrasts in one deeply supported journey.

A high-luxury arc through the north: Delhi and the Taj Mahal, tigers in Ranthambore, the palace cities of Jaipur and Udaipur, and two transformative nights in Varanasi. It moves more than our other journeys, so each stay is chosen to make the arrival worth it.

Pace: expansive, high-touch and richly varied. Like all of our journeys it is private throughout, with your own car and chauffeur, private guides in each place and someone to call from the first day to the last.

Planning this journey

A wider northern India itinerary in thirteen nights.

For the service and design process, explore private India journeys. For accommodation choices and price considerations, see luxury travel in India.

Breadth brings more moves

This route combines Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Udaipur and Varanasi. It suits travellers who enjoy contrasting places and accept more hotel changes. If you prefer long afternoons in one city, we can remove destinations and extend selected stays.

Flight days still need space

Internal flights reduce some long road journeys, but airport transfers and check-in still take time. We confirm actual connections before setting the day’s activities. The final Delhi night should be planned around your onward flight rather than treated as a guaranteed connection buffer.

Trade a stop for more time

Removing a destination can create extra room for rest, a longer stay or a personal interest. Varanasi adds a distinct cultural experience; Ranthambore adds wildlife. Decide which matters more before adding extra destinations to the same thirteen nights.

Stays

Where you would stay.

These are the properties we propose for this route, a few defining hero stays balanced with characterful, well-located supporting hotels. They are subject to availability when we design your journey, and we suggest alternatives of similar character where one is full or where another would suit you better.

Questions

Before you enquire.

Is Grand India a two-week itinerary?

The sample includes thirteen nights in India, usually spanning fourteen local calendar days. International flights may extend your time away. Share your arrival and departure schedule so that the first and last days are designed around it.

Can we keep the route but slow it down?

Yes. Adding nights in selected places or removing a stop can reduce the number of busy days. We will revise the accommodation, transfers, flights and price together; the published starting figure is not a fixed price for an extended journey.

Is this journey too fast?

It moves more than our more focused routes, which is why the longer legs are flown and the stays are chosen to reward each arrival. If you would rather trade Varanasi or Ranthambore for more nights elsewhere, we will redesign it around you.

Is this a fixed departure?

No. Every journey is private and travels on your dates, with your own car, chauffeur and guides. The route on this page is a designed starting point; the stays, pacing and experiences are refined around you before anything is confirmed.

What does the from-price cover?

It is an indicative starting point per person, based on two travellers sharing a room in the stays listed, in the proposed accommodation and room categories, excluding international flights. Your proposal is priced against your dates, room categories and final inclusions.

When is the best time to travel?

Choose dates around the route and the experiences that matter to you. Northern city sightseeing, Kerala’s hills and waterways, and central India’s safari parks have different weather and operating calendars. Tell us your preferred dates; we will discuss the tradeoffs and confirm activity availability before finalizing the journey.

Can the hotels be changed?

Yes. The stays listed are the ones we propose for this route, subject to availability when we design your journey. We suggest alternatives of similar character where a property is full, or where a different one would suit you better.

Are the journeys suitable for families?

They can be. Tell us the ages of everyone travelling and we will adjust the pace, rooming and experiences accordingly. Children's pricing depends on ages and room arrangements and is confirmed in the proposal.
