Leopards among granite hills

About Jawai

Jawai is a landscape of rounded granite outcrops, scrub and villages in rural Rajasthan. Leopards move through the rocky hills, while pastoral life continues around them. Go out with an experienced local naturalist, leave room for patient watching, and take in the landscape as well as its wildlife. The stop in Signature Rajasthan pairs early and late drives with time at camp; sightings remain a matter of chance.

Best time to visit: October to March for cooler drives. The warmer months demand more care with heat and time outdoors.

Worth arranging

  • Leopard tracking with a local naturalist
  • Granite hills in the first and last light
  • An introduction to the surrounding pastoral landscape
